Feversham Arms, which I reviewed at the back end of last year, has launched a stunning new penthouse-style poolside suite to add to their recent collection of newly renovated suites. This new addition will bring the total number of resort-inspired, poolside suites to six.
Two are located on upper floors and each has access to the pool terrace via their own private staircase; whilst four are at ground floor level, enjoying their own private pool terraces.
The cosy penthouse suite nestles into the hotel’s eaves, giving it an intimate ambience. Ideal for couples valuing their own romantic, private hideaway. Shades of dark grey and teal dominate the suite’s signature palette throughout, embracing the suite with a sophisticated, grown-up feel. The interior décor employs mango wood furniture, pale gold soft furnishings, occasional lamps, mirror placement, along with Velux skylights to introduce layers of atmospheric light to enhance the rich colour scheme.
Architecturally interesting with painted oak beams, nooks and crannies, the suite has the added attraction of a living space with working open fireplace, a walk-in dressing room and two bathrooms – one featuring a double-ended bath and separate, walk-in monsoon shower, as well as an ensuite. Luxurious touches such as fluffy towels and robes, Temple Spa products, duck down bedding and a coffee machine, with air-conditioning being an added guest comfort during the warmer months.
Ingo Wiangke – the hotel’s General Manager commented, ‘This new suite’s sophisticated style contrasts with the established pool suites, which are more colourful and Mediterranean in style – this was a bold and deliberate design choice by us, working with our interior designer Pip we feel we have made this into a unique grown-up hideaway in the eaves, making the most of the suite’s intimate space. It complements our selection of rooms beautifully as an option for our guests, and we expect the suite to be highly appealing to couples seeking romantic seclusion.
Once again Pip of Pip Interior Designs has been mindful to use local tradespeople, craftsmen and independent retailers to bring the suite renovation together. Supporting our rural community in Helmsley itself, or neighbouring Kirkbymoorside and Pickering is a sustainable, community-led choice and therefore close to our hearts”.

As well as the collection of six refurbished pool suites, this four red star hotel has a further selection of 28 bedrooms and suites, a spa with relaxation area and outdoor hot tub and a two AA rosette restaurant, ‘The Weathervane’ where the focus is upon locally sourced, fresh seasonal produce. Al fresco dining is served on the pool terrace at lunchtimes during the summer season.
Located in the heart of picturesque Helmsley with its array of boutique and artisan shops, a traditional weekly market, Medieval Castle ruins, walled gardens and local walks across Duncombe Park and nearby open countryside, it is the ideal place to enjoy a relaxing stay exploring the delights of North Yorkshire, including the North York Moors and the East Yorkshire coastline.
